When game audio stutters, listen to the whole device

A practical way to tell muted playback, rendering pressure, and background activity apart.

· 4 min

Silence and stutter are different

Complete silence often points to a muted tab, device volume, or the browser waiting for a click before allowing audio. Stutter usually means the player is not receiving enough consistent processing time. Treating both as a volume problem delays the useful test.

Watch the picture

If animation and sound break at the same moment, the whole emulation loop is under pressure. Close video, conferencing, and other active tabs. Pause downloads and check whether the device has entered a low-power mode.

Test after interaction

Browsers restrict automatic audio. Click Start game, then interact with the canvas once before deciding sound has failed. Check the tab icon for a mute indicator and confirm that the correct output device is selected.

Report the pattern

A useful report says whether sound never began, stopped after fullscreen, or breaks only during busy scenes. Include whether another game works in the same browser. Those details narrow the problem more than a general note that audio is broken.
