PLAY NOTE

Route planning in Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle

Why a game without a standard jump button turns doors, stairs, and enemy paths into a moving puzzle.

· 4 min

Platforming without the usual escape

Crazy Castle looks like a platform game, but Bugs cannot solve danger by jumping over it. Doors, stairs, pipes, and level changes become the important tools. The player is asked to think about access and timing rather than airborne precision.

Carrots define the route

Collecting every carrot means the fastest path to one item may create a worse position for the rest. Scan the room for dead ends and narrow passages before choosing the first target. A good route keeps more than one exit available while enemies are still nearby.

Enemies are moving walls

An enemy patrol changes which corridor is open. Instead of treating every encounter as a chase, wait for the patrol to make a useful gap elsewhere. Moving away from a carrot for a few seconds can produce a safer approach and prevent a long retreat.

Reset your mental map

After losing, do not repeat the exact route at full speed. Choose one intersection and ask what alternative it offered. The game rewards a map-like memory: where passages connect, which objects are one-use, and where an enemy can trap both exits.
